DAIMLERCHRYSLER India today announced the launch of a more powerful version of its best selling series in India - the Mercedes C-Class.

According to the company, the newly launched C 220 CDI comes equipped with a common-rail direct injection diesel engine and features over 80 components to further optimise on torque, power output, fuel consumption, emission characteristics, comfort and reliability.

The model will also be showcased at the DaimlerChrysler stall in the forthcoming AutoExpo.

"Our customers seek power, torque and driving dynamics... and that is exactly what the new C-Class further optimises upon," Mr Hans-Michael Huber, Managing Director and CEO of DaimlerChrysler India said in a statement issued by the company.

The new C-Class engine is fitted with a VNT turbocharger with electrically adjustable guide vanes according to the engine characteristic map. This technology enables even more dynamic and precise turbo-charging than the previous vacuum-controlled system.

DaimlerChrysler has already sold 746 units of the C-Class in 2003, as compared to 620 units in 2002.
