Make public aware of existing laws: Gouri

By Our Staff Reporter

ALAPPUZHA, JAN. 17. The Agriculture Minister, K.R. Gouri, has said that the public should be made aware of their responsibilities and the various laws existing in the country to improve the law and order situation in the State.

Inaugurating the new building of the Alappuzha traffic police at Alissery Road here today, Ms. Gouri said the amount earmarked for the Home Department had been raised considerably in recent years. Numerous welfare schemes and training programmes had been implemented for the police personnel, she said.

``The need of the hour is to make the public cooperate with the police to ensure peace and security to all,'' the Minister said.

The Minister said the police should take initiative to organise classes for the public to make them aware of laws. The police should also take the responsibility to educate drivers on traffic laws to reduce accidents, she said.
