HYDERABAD, JAN. 17. A Communist Party of India leader, Narasimha Chari (35), was stabbed to death by four unidentified persons at Dwarakapuri in Saroornagar here late on Friday night while he was going to his sister's house on a scooter along with his wife, Vijayalakshmi. When she resisted the attack, the assailants inflicted knife injuries on her hands and fled from the spot. Mrs. Vijayalaxmi was later shifted to the Osmania General Hospital (OGH). The victim was Gurrampadu Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency member (MPTC) in Nalgonda district and got married only last month.

The CPI leaders -- Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy and Dharma Bhiksham -- who went to the OGH alleged that it was a `political murder.' The Saroornagar police said the victim was earlier accused in the killing of a Telugu Desam Party MPTC member, Sudhakar, of Nalgonda district. Subsequently, the People's War owned responsibility for the murder.
