Back DCI launches beach nourishment work in Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) has launched beach nourishment work here.

A dredger of the DCI is currently at work in the inner harbour, digging out sand from the channel and depositing it towards the shore (Ramakrishna beach).

The Visakhapatnam Port Trust and the DCI have entered into a pact for beach nourishment and the work is usually taken up for a month in February. Beach nourishment prevents soil erosion on the beach and the channel in the inner harbour is deepened to facilitate easy movement of ships.
