Back Kurlon rolls out `Spinekare' mattress Our Bureau
Chennai , Feb. 17 THE Bangalore-based Kurlon Ltd, as a part of its national rollout, launched a new range of products for the southern region. The range includes the memory foam mattress `Spinekare'. Mr T. Sudhakar Pai, Managing Director, Kurlon Ltd, said that NASA first developed the technology of this mattress for use in space. He said that not more a dozen companies were using this technology for mattresses. The viscose elastic foam used in the mattress is also known as memory foam and follows the natural shape of the spine. The mattress is priced at Rs 7,000. The mattress is aimed not just at people who have back problems but also others. The company plans to go in for direct marketing and also approach doctors to promote the product. Kurlon launched two varieties of foam mattresses Goldline and Platinum- and a cotton mattress for the premium end of the market. The company exports around 7 per cent of its products to SAARC countries and to the Gulf region. Mr Pai said that Kurlon had a 55 per cent market share nationally and had grown by almost 50 per cent in the current year.
