By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, FEB. 17. Unveiling two unique products — world's first `Mirror Television' and audio hi-fi system `FWD 596' with in-built vertical DVD player — Philips India today said the company's focus in the current year would be to aggressively target the growing TV market in the country and also consolidate its position as the market leader in the audio segment. "We also hopes to achieve good growth in the DVD market and make our presence felt in the mobile phone segment,''said Shivakumar, Vice-President of the company's consumer electronics segment.

Stating that the company was aiming to sell around six lakh colour televisions across all the segments, Mr. Shivakumar said Philips India was ready with a range of television with 35 models, from the low end `Vardaan' series specially designed for the `high potential' rural market to high-end LCD and Plasma TVs. "And the launch of Mirror TV, that also doubles up as a mirror, signifies our ability to predict and shape the future. This product has a huge potential for both high-end Indian consumers and the booming hospitality industry.'' The company has identified Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai), Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as growth areas for its new product basket.
