BANGALORE, FEB. 21. The President of the Janata Party, Subramanian Swamy, is expected to call on the President of the All-India Progressive Janata Dal (AIPJD), S.R. Bommai, here on Sunday and finalise an electoral understanding between the two parties. The merger of the two parties is still open for discussion, according to senior leaders of the AIPJD. However, in a letter addressed to Mr. Bommai on Friday, Dr. Subramanian Swamy said that the merger of the two parties in the present scenario was unlikely, since the AIPJD was yet to pass a resolution. Meanwhile, senior leaders of the AIPJD led by Mr. Bommai and the floor leader of the party in the Legislative Assembly, B. Somashekar, today held discussions with the district unit presidents and other senior leaders on the electoral strategy.
