IAF adopts village

JAMNAGAR, FEB. 21. The Jamnagar base of the Indian Air Force has decided to adopt Lakha Bawal village, near here, where four persons were killed in yesterday's MiG-21 crash.

The Air Officer Commanding of the base, Air Commodore Amul Kapoor, said: "We have decided to adopt the village and we will try and do our level best for the welfare of the villagers."

The IAF has also decided to give an ex-gratia of Rs.1 lakh to the next of kin of the youth and the woman who died, and Rs. 50,000 to the families of the two children killed yesterday. The Air Commodore along with his wife today visited the bereaved families.

At least four persons died and 14 were injured when the aircraft caught fire and crashed in the village on Friday. - UNI
