NEW DELHI, FEB. 25. Two used 12-bore cartridges were recovered by Central Industrial Security Force personnel from a man who was loitering around Indira Gandhi International Airport here early this morning. The CISF said it was around 11-50 p.m. on Tuesday that Daya Ram, a private security guard of M/s R/4 Private Security Agency, reported to them the presence of a suspicious-looking man outside the Export Gate of the Cargo Terminal. On being questioned by the CISF staff, the man was unable to give any satisfactory reply about the motive of his presence at the spot and just kept mumbling that he had come to see off someone. Subsequently, the CISF personnel searched his bag, which led to the recovery of used cartridges. The accused, who was subsequently handed over to the Delhi police and booked at the IGI police station, was identified as 23-year-old Mohammad Siraj, a resident of Karola Sayad Nagar in Muradabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The police are now questioning the accused to establish why he was present at the airport area with the two cartridges. Meanwhile, in another incident at the IGI Airport, a transit passenger was intercepted by the CISF personnel who was carrying foreign exchange worth nearly Rs 30 lakhs. However, as he was a transit passenger, the authorities allowed him to leave by the connecting flight. The CISF said it was at around 2-30 p.m. that during the pre-embarkation security checks of flight No. TJK 111, a Sub Inspector, A. Henry, detected $ 70,000 in the hand baggage of a transit passenger, Toshev, who had come from Dushanbe and was on his way to Sharjah. Since there was no provision for his detention, the authorities allowed the passenger to proceed to Sharjah. They, however, informed the authorities in Sharjah about the presence of the large amount of cash in his hand baggage so that action may be initiated against him there.
