COIMBATORE: The Catering and Hotel Management Department of the VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science has commercially launched the `VLB Pickle'.

Hailing the introduction of the VLB Pickle as a maiden attempt by the department, Mr Ajeeth Kumar, Head of the Department, said that this was aimed at training the students to become an entrepreneur after graduation.

"Apart from the regular curriculum, we also impart hands-on training in marketing. Unless you push your product in the market, you cannot survive and sustain in a competitive environment,'' he said. The department has introduced 14 varieties of pickles such as gooseberry, mango, tomato, mixed vegetable, garlic, ginger, chilli, onion, and cucumber under this brand. Besides these, the fish, prawn and beef pickles have also been introduced.
