Nalgonda DCC chief resigns

By Our Staff Reporter

NALGONDA, MARCH 27. The District Congress Committee (DCC) president, V. Swami Goud, resigned for the post protesting against the basis of allotment of ticket within the party.

Addressing a press conference today, Mr. Swami Goud said the party high command had failed to allot ticket in proportion to the population of each community.

"DCC presidents elsewhere, excepting me, have been given a chance to contest the election," he said. Mr. Goud said that he had urged the party to allot one Lok Sabha and three Assembly tickets to the Backward Classes keeping in view their population, but the party had not heeded to his advice. A senior party leader, Jaipal Reddy, too, maintained silence over the matter, he lamented.

Mr. Goud denied reports that he was likely to join the Telugu Desam and said that he would be an ordinary member of the Congress.
