BANGALORE, APRIL 3. The Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), a new body of public relations professionals, was launched here today. The chairman of the governing council of the PRCI, M.B. Jayaram, said the objectives of the new organisation was to promote public relations as a specialised profession on a par with the management disciplines and foster study and research in the field. The occasion marked the installation of S.D. Reuben (Bangalore) as the PRCI president, R. Neelamegham (Hyderabad) as vice-president, R. Sudarshan secretary-general, and Martha Butala (Mumbai) as treasurer. Ramesh Krishnan (New Delhi), B.K. Sahu (Kolkata), Santan Rodrigues (Mumbai), and K. Govindaraj (Hyderabad) were chosen chairmen of North, East, West, and South zones respectively. The PRCI's in-house magazine "The Communicator," was released on the occasion.
