Back Kalaniketan to set up malls in South India

VISAKHAPATNAM: Kalaniketan, a handloom showroom based at Vijayawada, is planning to set up a chain of malls in South India, beginning with the first one to be inaugurated here on Wednesday, Mr V. Rajendra Kumar, Managing Partner, has said.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, on the eve of inauguration of the mall in Dwarakanagar here, he said three showrooms had been set up in Hyderabad during 2002 and 2003. To cater to the clientele in the US, Kalaniketan had also set up a showroom in Cleveland and there were plans to set up another one in New Jersey, he said.

Enthused by the success of the showrooms, he said, Kalanikethan had embarked on setting up the malls which would sell, besides the traditional Kanchi silks and handlooms, jewellery, gold, silver and diamonds ``at reasoanble rates.'' The mall here would be opened by Ms Katrina Kaif, the model and film actress.

``We are planning similar malls in Rajahmundry, Chennai, Bangalore and Coimbatore,'' he said.
