Back SBT loan plan for nurses going abroad

STATE Bank of Travancore (SBT) has unveiled a loan scheme for the benefit of nurses seeking employment abroad.

Under the "SBT nurses suvidha scheme", loans are available to meet the expenses for migration abroad, registration, test and interview, agency commission, visa charges and airfare.

Those who have passed B.Sc Nursing or Diploma in General Nursing and not above 35 years of age are eligible for the loan. The applicant should be serviced by a licensed recruiting agency to be eligible for the loan.

The maximum amount of loan will be Rs 1.5 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, respectively, for migration to the Gulf countries, the UK or European countries and the US, at an interest rate of 9.5 per cent.

According to a statement from SBT, 75 per cent of the expenses on registration charges and agency commission will be reimbursed as loan on producing the selection document.
