Easy win for Artillery Centre

HYDERABAD, APRIL 25 . Artillery Centre defeated Nav Bharat Club 3-1 in the A-1 Division hockey league championship match at Begumpet Police Stadium here today. At half-time, Artillery led 2-1.

The Army men shot into lead in the minute through Anil Ekka of a penalty-corner in the eighth minute. In the 15th minute, Ekka was in the scoring act again with a fine solo effort. Nav Bharath reduced the margin in the 30th minute through Narayana Rao.

But soon after resumption, Jaswinder Singh completed the tally for the winners with an impressive run down the centre dodging past a couple of closely marking defenders before essaying a delectable carpet drive to find the target.

An effort, which put the Nav Bharath on the defensive and its only consolation, was that it did not concede any more goals for the eventual winners. In all, the two teams earned two penalty-corners each.
