BANGALORE, APRIL 25. The Karnataka Welfare Association for the Blind organised a programme here on Sunday to announce measures in a residential school run for visually impaired persons by the Vasavi Club, Yediyur.

The club donated a sewing machine to a visually impaired person and a water purifier to the association.

Ravindranath Guptha, National Secretary, All India Association of Vasavi Club, said the club would consider setting up two telephone booths for visually impaired persons and initiating a job-placement programme for such persons.

S.P. Murthy, General Secretary, Karnataka Welfare Association for the Blind, appealed to voluntary agencies and other institutions to help the association pay the salary of some of their employees.

"Since we do not get any grants from the Government, we have to depend on public support," he said.

Five saplings were planted on the occasion.
