Three killed in mishaps

A resident of Narayankhed, Ramulu (45), was killed when the Hussain Sagar Express hit him while he was crossing the railway track near Sanathnagar railway station on Saturday. His body was found lying on the track on Sunday, the Nampally Railway Police said.

In another accident, a resident of Borabanda, Mahavir Kailas Kumar (22), who was hit by training while crossing the railway track near his house on May 7, succumbed to the injuries on Saturday while undergoing treatment at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences.

An unidentified man aged about 30 years, who was found lying on the road under Chaderghat police station area early on Sunday died at the Osmania General Hospital a couple of hours later. The police suspect it was a case of hit and run and registered a case under Section 304-A of IPC.

Valuables stolen

Four watches and two video cameras, all worth Rs. 2.5 lakhs, were stolen from the house of a retired architect, Altaf Hussain, in Banjara Hills police station area on Saturday night. Hussain worked in Oman. Thieves entered the house by removing the window grills, the police said.

Two unidentified persons stole gold ornaments worth Rs. 50,000 from a housewife, Ratnavali (40), after promising her to polish the jewellery at a `cheap rate' at her house near the Malakpet race course in the Chaderghat police station area on Saturday. The two men, aged about 35 years, put the jewellery in a dish containing boiling water. They took away the jewellery by diverting her attention.

Recovered

A stolen diamond ring worth Rs. 5 lakhs was recovered by the Banjara Hills police on Sunday. The Manager of Chennai Apollo Hospitals, Maahit Suresh, came to Hyderabad on office work and was staying at her friend's house at Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills. On May 5, Maahit found her diamond ring and two ear studs stolen.

During interrogation, the maid, Rani, confessed to have stolen the property.
