Back NAAC accreditation to 4 universities in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has granted its accreditation to four universities in Kerala.

According to Prof V.S. Prasad, NAAC Director, a meeting of the executive committee of the Council held the other day had made the decision after grading the universities on a nine-point scale ranging from C to A++.

Among the four, the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and the Calicut University have been provided "three star" status, the University of Kerala "B++" and the MG University B+. Among the colleges affiliated to the University of Kerala, the Loyola College of Social Sciences, Thiruvananthapuram, has been given a "five star" status, and the FMN College, Kollam, and the SD College, Alappuzha, "four star." The All Saints' College, Thiruvananthapuram, has been given a "three star."

The accreditation process involved the preparation of the self-study report and its validation by a peer team through onsite visit. More than 200 sitting and former Vice-Chancellors, Principals, Deans and Professors were involved in this national exercise, Prof Prasad said.
