Our Bureau

CHENNAI: Chennai now has its own New Yorker. The speciality restaurant offers Mexican, Italian, Lebanese, sizzlers and Indian food. It will open on May 17.

The New Yorker menu offers specialities such as nachos, enchiladas and the sizzling brownie sundae. The other favourites on the menu are the onions rings, American corn cheese balls, bean tacos, sizzlers, pizzas and baked jacket potatoes.

Three city-based businessmen - Mr Satish Kumbhat, Mr Ajay Lunawath and Mr Adit Bafna - who have interests in electrical business, construction and finance, started the restaurant. The 80-cover restaurant caters to the mid-segment and the investment in this project is Rs 20 lakh, Mr Kumbhat said.

The restaurant is the franchisee of New Yorker, Mumbai, which is the brainchild of Mr Tony Batra. The New Yorker in Mumbai has been in business for the past 26 years. There are three restaurants in Mumbai, and one each in Pune and Hyderabad.

Mr Kumbhat said that the restaurant would be open for lunch and dinner and also offers valet parking.
