Lok Satta demands Right to Information Bill

WARANGAL, MAY 16. Lok Satta has urged the Congress Government in the State to initiate steps to strengthen the local government bodies and come out with the Right to Information Bill at the earliest which it made as its part of the election promises.

Addressing a press conference, here today, the Lok Satta convenor, N. Jaya Prakash Narayan, has said that the government should not delay the process of strengthening the local bodies and should immediately delegate the powers and funds earmarked for them.

Listing out the charter of demands before the newly formed Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy's Government, Mr. Narayan advised the Government to Right to Information Bill in the newly constituted Assembly. He said the Lok Satta had prepared a `model legislation' for the proposed Act which would soon be submitted to the Government for its perusal.

"The model Act, prepared by the experts in the field, also suggested about the mechanism and modalities to implement the Right to Information law," he explained.
