INTRODUCTION of Open Book system and the need for examination reforms in the school education have been favoured by the Principal Secretary, Education, Andhra Pradesh, Dr I.V. Subba Rao.

The need to change the method of assessment in schools, adoption of innovative practises such as multiple intelligences drawn from research and introduction of practicals to supplement the existing examination system were proposed at a discussion chaired by Dr Subba Rao.

The Panel discussion "Student Assessment: Is there an alternative to the Examination System", organised by the CfBT Education Services, India, a U.K. based not-for-profit organisation, specialising in Education Services.

The session suggested that the CfBT should form a forum of like-minded people consisting of parents, students, teachers, educationists and NGO's to work on reforms and come out with a child-centred approach, according to a press release.
