Partly cloudy day ahead

NEW DELHI JUNE 8. The weatherman has forecast a partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain and thundershower accompanied with squall in some parts of the Capital on Wednesday. The maximum temperature would hover around 38 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday were 37.2 degrees Celsius and 23.8 degrees Celsius respectively. Palam recorded a maximum of 39.7 degrees Celsius and minimum of 27.5 degrees Celsius.

The maximum humidity recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 91 per cent and 69 per cent respectively, while both places recorded a minimum humidity of 48 per cent.

Man stabbed

NEW DELHI JUNE 8. A 22-year-old man allegedly engaged in eve-teasing was stabbed by the brother of a young woman at R.K. Puram here on Monday. The accused has been arrested.

According to the police, they received a call from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences informing them about a man with stab injuries in the stomach being brought to the hospital. Enquiries revealed that the victim, Deepak, had been stabbed at R.K. Puram by Laxman, a resident of Moti Lal Nehru Camp.

Acting on the victim's statement, the police registered a case and arrested Laxman.

Body found

NEW DELHI JUNE 8. The highly decomposed body of a 45-year-old man was found in a room behind his spare parts shop at Uttam Nagar in West Delhi on Monday.

The deceased, Hari Prakash Tyagi, had been living separately from his family for the past several years. On Sunday, his neighbours noticed foul smell emanating from the room behind his shop and informed the police. They broke into the house and found Tyagi's body with stab injuries in the stomach and neck.

Police drive

NEW DELHI JUNE 8. The South-West Delhi police have launched a drive against chain snatchers and robbers by forming special teams of plainclothes police personnel for conducting surprise checks and raids across the district. Two auto-thieves were arrested during the first day of the drive.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West Delhi), Deependra Pathak, the drive named "Chakma Chakravyuh" has been launched to curb the activities of ruffians, robbers and snatchers. On the first day of the drive, the police arrested Jasbir and Anil, who were riding a stolen motorcycle.
