36 injured in bus accident

KOCHI, JUNE 9. As many as 36 people sustained injuries when the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus they were travelling in fell on its side at Edakochi here today.

Conditions of four of the passengers were reported to be critical.

The accident occurred at around 3.50 p.m. The bus, with registration number KL-15 3121, was proceeding from Thoppumpady to Cherthala when the bus allegedly lost control before it overturned. The injured were admitted to the Lakeshore Hospital and the Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital in the city and to Lakshmi Hospital, Aroor.

Four persons admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital were identified as Omana (46), Bose (57), Sukanya (49) and Thampi (42).

Many of the victims left after being administered first-aid, the police said.
