KOCHI, JUNE 9. A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court today directed the Kochi Corporation to remove the contractor who had undertaken the Mullassery canal widening works as he had failed to complete the works within the time set by the court. The Bench comprising the Chief Justice, N. K. Sodhi, and Justice, P.R. Raman, had directed the contractor, Mohammedkutty, to complete the works within six weeks on March 26, 2004 when a writ petition filed by the Karikkamuri Residents Association complaining about the delay in the completion of the works came up before the court. The court today also directed the Corporation to complete the works after engaging another contractor within 60 days. The court ordered that the widening works should be undertaken on a war-footing. The Corporation had been directed to take all steps to remove water-logging at Karikkamuri and other places.
