84 rail overbridges this year

NAGERCOIL, JUNE 11. The Government has decided to construct 84 railway overbridges in the south including two in Kanyakumari district this year, the Southern Railway general manager, V. Anand, told presspersons here on Friday.

Ten overbridges were constructed in the State in the last one year.

In view of the demand abroad for coaches manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory, it was decided to export them to Bangladesh, Uganda, Taiwan and the Philippines this year.

A desalination plant would be set up on the Kanyakumari Railway station premises to meet water requirements.

Later, Mr. Anand inspected on-going development works in the district.
