Back KCCI welcomes proposals

THE President of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mr R.D. Kini, has welcomed the Railway Budget proposals for 2004-05.

He told Business Line that the Railway Minister's decision not to hike freight rates would help increase exports from the region. He expressed confidence that the gauge conversion of Hassan-Mangalore line would be completed by 2005, though there was no clear mention about it in the Budget proposals.

However, the Mangalore MP, Mr D.V. Sadananda Gowda, aid that no significant allocation has been made for Hassan-Mangalore project in the Budget proposals.
