CHENNAI, JULY 9. Effective communication is a key tool for management of any organisation to mould, develop and derive the best from its human resource, said Ashok Soota, chairman and managing director, MindTree Consulting Limited. Receiving the `human resource excellence' award, instituted by the Confederation of Indian Industry, southern region, here today, he said good human resource also required leadership to articulate an "ambitious, energising and shared vision," create feedback mechanisms and define measurement criteria for success. . Prasad T.G.C., general manager (People Function), said communication at all levels and a theme- based approach to creating systems and processes was one of the reasons why the company had better human resource, which employed 1,225 persons. R.J. Shahaney, Chairman of Ashok Leyland, and the jury, presented the award and the certificates of human resource excellence to Bharat Electronics, the sugar division of EID Parry, Indian Aluminium Company, Indian Leaf Tobacco Development division of Indian Tobacco Company (ITC), Roots Industries and WeP Peripherals. The award, said Shobana Kamineni, chairperson of CII-SR, was an initiative of the industry body to promote excellence in human resource practices through a systematic assessment. J.N. Amrolia, chairman of the HR and IR (industrial relations) sub-committee of CII-SR, spoke.
