Coast Guard rescues injured crew member

KOCHI, JULY 14. A Coast Guard helicopter has rescued an injured crewmember of a British cargo ship. Ivan Chirkov, who was seriously injured in an accident on board on Tuesday, was later admitted to a hospital.

Bulk-carrier m.v. Tein Bank had sent a message to the Coast Guard while sailing 400 nautical miles off the Kochi shore. Since the Coast Guard helicopter was not to fly more than 25 nautical miles off the shore, the ship was asked to come closer.

The ship's engine stalled for sometime and the vessel inched closer little late.

The ship, on its way from Malaysia to France, sailed off later.
