Back HelloSoft develops VoIP tool for mobiles

HELLOSOFT, a wireless technology solutions provider, has filed for about a dozen patents from its R&D centre located here and has developed a new Internet Protocol-based application for mobile phones and wireless devices that bypasses the requirement of the digital signal processing solution.

According to the company, this new solution is an industry first and makes it convenient for mobile applications. HelloSoft is in parleys with some of the leading semiconductor companies, including Fujitsu and mobile phone-makers with this technology breakthrough.

The Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of HelloSoft, Mr Krishna Yarlagadda, told Business Line that the company operates in the specific technology space that is at the intersection of wireless products and Voice over Internet Protocol. It has developed a lot of intellectual property and has thus far filed for about a dozen patents in this wireless application space.

The company was co-funded by some of the leading venture capitalists, including Venrock Associates, Sofinnova and Jump Start Up. Its board of directors includes Mr Vinod Dham who is considered father of Pentium.

Mr Yarlagadda said: "The next boom is likely to be driven by electronic commerce where wireless devices are set to play a significant role. Within this wireless application pace, VoIP has taken centre-stage, as this could be extremely cost-effective. Therefore, while lot of fixed machines support this application, the VoIP solutions for mobile devices are at the early stage."
