Back NetApps plans foray into Bangladesh

IN a bid to tap growing market opportunities in Bangladesh, data storage company Network Appliance Systems India has said it is looking at foraying into the Bangladesh market by end-2004.

"We are already addressing the Sri Lanka market through the India office. We plan to start addressing the Bangladesh market by the end of this year," Mr George Thomas, Country Manager of Network Appliance Systems (India), said here on Tuesday .

He said the company was currently in the process of studying the Bangladesh market. "The market is opening up in a big way and the concentration of global companies setting up presence in Bangladesh is also rising," he said.

Mr Thomas said Network Appliance planned to target its own global customers as well as new customers with operations in Bangladesh.

On the orders that the company has bagged in India, he said it had been selected by Aviva Life Insurance, for providing data storage solution for disaster recovery. "The solution has already been implemented and has been running successfully for five-six months,"

Mr Thomas declined to divulge the size of the order.
