'A really good job'

By Sridhar Krishnaswami

WASHINGTON, JULY 22.

The U.S. President, George W. Bush today thanked the two key members of the National Commission that probed the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, for a "really good job'. He said the panel had not only found what went wrong prior to 9/11 but also made `very solid, sound recommendations about how to move forward'.

After meeting the Commission Chairman, Thomas Kean and the Vice Chairman, Lee Hamilton at the Oval Office, the President said that `where the Government needs to act, we will'.

The five Republicans and the five Democrats in the 10-member panel were critical of both the Clinton and the Bush administrations; and according to experts the National Commission's report has enough ammunition for both the Presidential candidates as they go about the last weeks of the election campaign.
