Woman dies of injuries; `attacker' arrested

BANGALORE, JULY 22. Neelamma (50), a native of Gulbarga district, who was allegedly attacked with a grinding stone by her neighbour on Monday, died on Thursday.

The police said Ramesh Nayak attacked Neelamma at her house at Nelagadarenahalli in Peenya police station limits and robbed her of Rs. 140, a pair of gold earrings, and a camera. The Peenya police have arrested Nayak.

Vehicles recovered

The Rajagopalanagar police on July 19 arrested a youth and recovered from him 26 two-wheelers worth Rs. 8 lakh.

The police said the arrested person identified as Narasimha Murthy alias Thippeswamy (25) of Chennenahalli on Magadi Road, had stolen the vehicles from Rajagopalanagar, Vijayanagar, Magadi Road, Seshadripuram, R.T. Nagar, and Kalasipalyam police station limits in the city.

In another case, the Shivajinagar police on Wednesday arrested Imran (19) of Nala Road and recovered from him an autorickshaw worth Rs. 48,000. The police said Imran and his associate, who is at large, had stolen the autorickshaw from Broadway Road on Tuesday.

Two arrested

The Madivala police on July 18 arrested two persons from Tamil Nadu on charges of house break-in and theft and recovered from them gold ornaments, a laptop, a LCD projector, and wristwatches, together worth Rs. 3 lakh.

The names of the arrested persons were given as Shankar (30) of Thiruvannamalai and Siva Perumal (26) of Thiruppathur. They were allegedly involved in three burglaries reported from Madivala and MICO Layout police station limits.

Seized

The Chickpet police on July 19 raided a business establishment in 2nd Stage, Peenya, and seized fake overhead projector (OHP) transparencies, computers, printers, and other equipment worth Rs. 5 lakh.

The police arrested the proprietors of the firm, Ajay Chadha (36) of Central Excise Layout in Vijayanagar and Manadeep Singh (29) of Syndicate Bank Colony on Bannerghatta Road.

The accused had faked the OHP transparencies manufactured by another firm in violation of the Copyright Act, the police said. They had also got orders from the Directorate of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) for supplying OHP transparencies, the police said.
