Back CRIDA research on bio-fuel Our Bureau
HYDERABAD: The Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA) here has initiated a research project on bio-fuel extraction and processing from Pongamia and Jatropha plant species. The project is aimed at improving oil recoveries from seeds by different methods, developing process of oil refinement to use as bio-diesel and improving techno-economic efficiency of bio-diesel utilisation at farmers level. The Director of CRIDA, Dr Y.S. Ramakrishna, has also inaugurated a bio-diesel extraction plant on the institute's premises that would be helpful in conducting the research. CRIDA's Principal Scientist (Farm Machinery and Power), Dr V.M. Mayande, and Senior Scientist, Dr Srinivas, would be working on the project to identify design parameters of conventional oil expeller to improve oil recovery from seeds and analysis of efinement process.
