HYDERABAD: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions will organise a week-long nationwide campaign beginning August 9, demanding that Government withdraw decisions that were against the interests of the working class. "We demand the Government to withdraw the decision to increase foreign direct investment limit in insurance, telecom and airlines," Mr S. Veeraiah, General Secretary of CITU (AP Committee), said.

Though the State and Central Governments were taking positive steps for agricultural sector, they were not taking any steps for the welfare of the working class, he said. Demanding that the State Government revoke the decision to sack 10,000 employees in the cooperative sector, the CITU also wanted the Government to review the Electricity Act to remove all the negative aspects.
