Sunder, Unnikrishnan emerge champions

ALAPPUZHA, JULY 31. Alappuzha's S. Sunder and Thiruvananthapuram's M. Unnikrishnan won the cadet and mini-cadet boys titles respectively in the 45th E. John Philipose Trophy all-Kerala table tennis tournament at the Alappuzha YMCA on Saturday.

Sunder rallied to beat his district-mate Sharath Joy 3-2 while Unnikrishnan defeated Akhilesh Viswanath (RSC) 2-0.

Cadet boys: S. Sunder (Alp) bt Sharath V. Joy (Alp) 8-11, 11-13, 11-3, 11-5, 11-5. Mini-cadet boys: M. Unnikrishnan (Tvm) bt Akhilesh Viswanath (RSC) 11-5, 12-10. Cadet girls: U. Ibthisam (Kzd) bt Ambily Sebastian (Wyd) 11-6, 11-3, 12-10.
