BANGALORE, JULY 31. The Bangalore Amateur Riders' Institute (BARI) will conduct eight Gymkhana meetings under the aegis of the Bangalore Turf Club from August 3 to September 20. But for two meetings (August 3 and September 7) there will be racing on Mondays. As has been the practice over the last few years, there will be no bookmakers and betting over Gymkhana races will be confined to the totalisators, which will peg its deductions at seven per cent. The pools in operation for the Gymkhana races are Win, Place, Second Horse Pool, Forecast, Quinella, Trinalla, Exacta, Jackpot and Treble. As many as 15 horses belonging to the BARI, 25 local horses and 30 horses and ponies from Pune, Ooty, Chennai and Hyderabad will figure in the eight-meeting season. The local ponies strength is expected to be 40. Dayanand Mandre, Chairman, BARI, Sub-Committee, said the use of whip during the gymkhana races will not be permitted. So far five sponsors have come forward to sponsor a day each. They are Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy, Mysore Race Club Ltd, Karnataka Racehorse Owners Association, Karnataka Trainers Association and Kehlan Stud Livestock & Agricultural Farm. Race days: August: 3, 9, 16, 23 and 20 September: 7, 13 and 20.
