Back Non-ferrous metals meet to focus on tech transfer Our Bureau
Bangalore , Aug 3 AN international conference on non-ferrous metals to be held here this week seeks to discuss issues concerning the non-ferrous industry in the country. The two-day event will try to find techno-economic solutions from global majors, according to a release from the Bangalore chapter of the Indian Institute of Metals. It will also explore expansion of marketing opportunities, technology transfers and industry-academia partnerships to promote the non-ferrous industry. The eighth annual conference is being held on August 6 and 7. A special satellite session on downstream applications of aluminium and copper is on the agenda. Key participants include Riedhammer GmbH and Otto Junker GmbH of Germany; aluminium giants Hindalco, Indal, Nalco, Balco, Indian Rare Earths, Hindustan Copper, MALCO, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd, defence establishments such as Ordnance Factory Board and Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory; National Chemical Labs; aerospace organisations such as HAL, ADA; BARC, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research and educational institutions such as IIT-Madras.Metallurgists Dr S.K.Tomatia, President and CEO of Indal; and Dr T.K.Mukherjee, CMD of Indian Rare Earths, are to be felicitated for their contribution to the field.
