THE T.S. Srinivasan Centre for Vocational and Advanced Training (CVAT) conducted its graduation day ceremony recently, according to a press release from CVAT.

It offers a three-year technical training programme leading to a CVAT Diploma and National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in three trades - industrial electrical and electronics, industrial machine tool maintenance and industrial machining. CVAT graduates have topped the NAC exams in the southern region in the last five years, the release said.

The centre, which was set up by the TVS group, also offers advanced training programmes to workers wishing to upgrade their skills. It offers training in advanced pneumatics and hydraulics, CNC training and general work competencies. Workers from a wide range of industries have benefited from this training.

Quoting Dr Malini Srinivasan, CVAT's director, the release said that though leading industries have absorbed the men graduating from the institute, the women graduates find it tougher to find employment. However, going by the performance, the women too would be assets to any company that employs them.
