HYDERABAD: A three-day national symposium on `Changing world order - cotton research, development and policy in context' recommended enhancement of seed replacement rates of various crops including cotton. In this regard, it said, the public and private sector should work hand in hand.

The other recommendations of the symposium included focusing the breeding efforts on the development of high fibre strength, early maturity, high fibre elongation and low fibre variability cotton varieties and encouragement of the production of value added products like particle and corrugated boards.

The symposium, which concluded on Thursday, was organised by the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, Cotton Research and Development Association and Indian Seed Industry Association.
