AIRTEL, a private telecom services provider, has commissioned its first 24x7 customer service centre in Andhra Pradesh. Located in a 60,000 sq. ft premises, it would house the company's State corporate office including switching centre, billing and collections department.

The Chairman and Group Managing Director of Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd., Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, said the centre will enable customers to avail round the clock facilities of AirTel including instant activation of their mobile phones, roaming activation, bill payments and instant solution for individual queries.

Mr Mittal, who inaugurated the facility, said "driven by the vision to be the most preferred provider of telecom services in the country, we today take yet another initiative in providing world class service to our customers."

The Chief Executive Officer of Bharti Cellular in Andhra Pradesh, Mr K. Srinivas, said "the latest 24x7 customer care/service initiative will enable AirTel to increase efficiency in customer service and enhance the existing service standards in Andhra Pradesh. We are committed to further facilitate the customer convenience by providing them the freedom of choice."

Bharti Cellular has aggregate of 8.73 million subscribers across the country as on July 2004 and of this 8 million are mobile telephone customers. The company has over eight lakh customers in the State.
