COIMBATORE: The South India Small Spinners' Association has sought relaxation of norms under the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme. In a release, the association President, R. Chinnaiyan, said mills with less than 12,000 spindles were not now eligible for assistance under the scheme. Small spinners supplied a huge quantity of yarn to the weaving units. In order to help them supply quality yarn, norms with regard to spindleage should be relaxed. This would enable the small-scale spinning units also to avail of assistance under the scheme, he said.
