Coimbatore , Aug. 14 THE blueprint on promoting technical textiles in the country will be ready this month and the expert committee on technical textiles formed by the Government more than a year ago is expected to table the report to the Centre this month. The Textile Commissioner, Mr Subodh Kumar, who headed the committee, told reporters that the committee had finalised the report to be presented to the Government and the last check was going on. The report, which has chalked out an action plan for promoting the India's technical textile sector, has given a shape to 17 project profiles of diverse technical textile sectors finding place in the report. Besides benchmarking and assessing the strength and weakness of each sector of the profiled technical textiles, the report has also identified the thrust areas. The committee had roped in the services of the Tata Economic Consultancy Services for the project profiling and benchmarking. The expert committee report, according to Mr Kumar, has highlighted ways and means of exploiting the market for the technical textile, which has scope to double up from the present Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 44,000 crore by 2010.
