ABVP demands shifting of markets, slaughterhouse

By Our Staff Correspondent

BIDAR, AUG. 15. Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad staged a rasta roko on the Bidar-Hyderabad Road on Saturday, demanding that the unauthorised slaughterhouse and the fish and mutton markets on the road opposite the Karnataka College be shifted.

Around 200 students blocked the road for nearly an hour.

They complained that students and the commuters had to suffer the nauseating stench of meat pieces thrown in the surrounding areas.

They had complained to the authorities many times, but no action had been taken.

The students dispersed after the Assistant Commissioner, H.M. Kumar, who is also the in-charge City Municipality Commissioner, promised to consider their demand.

The city organising secretary of the ABVP, Sitaram Puttur, the city secretary, Shashidhar Hosalli, Shivakuar Chimkode, and others participated in the rally.
