Indian Army reigns supreme

COIMBATORE, AUG. 15. Indian Army, Delhi defeated ONGC, Dehra Dun 80-60 in the final league match of the 40th all-India basketball tournament to lift the PSG Trophy at the PSG Tech. courts here on Sunday.

Earlier, Gokulanatha Hindu Mahajana HSS, Salem, emerged the champion institution in the 30th State-level basketball tournament.

It was a three-way tie between Gokulanatha, St. Michael's HSS, Coimbatore, and American College, Madurai. However, Gokulanatha, with a better tie average of 1.063, took home the trophy. St. Michael's (.979) and American College (.967) finished second and third respectively.

The results: All-India: Final league: Indian Army (Delhi) 80 bt ONGC (Dehra Dun) 60; Semifinal league: ONGC (Dehra Dun) 99 (Shreedar 25, Des Raj 26) bt IOB, Chennai, 83 (Chandira Sekar 23). ICF (Chennai) 75 (Sikkandar 21) bt IOB Chennai 72 (Sundar 16).
