Back SAIL R&D centre wins award

COIMBATORE: The Steel Authority of India Ltd's Research and Development Centre for Iron and Steel (RDCIS) has won the Golden Peacock Innovation Award 2004 for its contributions in the field of iron and steel technology.

The national award is instituted by the Institute of Directors (IOD), a premier organisation focusing on management issues at the board level and the world environment foundation.

Golden Peacock award is in recognition of the RDCIS's contribution in the areas of productivity improvement, reduction in coke rate and cost of sinter and extension of campaign life of blast furnaces in SAIL plants, besides helping in development of integrated coking control system, said a release from SAIL.

The national award will be presented to the RDCIS during the 15th foundation day celebrations of the IOD on August 20, the release added.
