Back Award for LV Prasad Eye Institute Our Bureau
HYDERABAD: LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has won the Carl Zeiss Award for Excellence for the year 2004 in "recognition of its initiatives and contributions towards eye care in India and the developing world". Mr Ulrich Krauss, President and CEO of the Germany-based Carl Zeiss Meditec, will present the award to Prof Ravi Thomas, Director of LVPEI, on Thursday. The award, instituted by the 155-year-old German company, is given annually to organisations, professional bodies and individuals for their contributions to society in a variety of fields. Incidentally, LVP-Zeiss International Academy for Advanced Ophthalmic Care, a joint initiative between LVPEI and Carl Zeiss, provides training to ophthalmologists and optometrists in the use of latest diagnostic equipment.
