Back Sheet rubber up on purchases by covering groups

RUBBER prices were quoted steady except RSS 4, which improved by 50 paise to close at Rs 55.00 a kg on Friday.

Covering groups continued to procure sheet rubber fulfilling their weekly commitments. The other grades were comparatively inactive.

Major participants kept off and the inflow off the raw material continued to be meagre.

The rubber futures maintained the better trend quoting the near month September delivery at Rs 53.47 (Rs 53.11) a kg on Friday.

The October delivery was quoted at Rs 51.70 (Rs 51.66), November delivery at Rs 51.51 (Rs 51.28) and December delivery at Rs 51.25 (Rs 51.09) per kg for RSS 4.

RSS 3 was steady at Rs 57.68 a kg at Bangkok.

The TOCOM September futures for RSS 3 improved to 138.6 yen against 137.9 yen a kg on Thursday.

The spot market rates were as follows (Rs/kg): RSS 4 55.00 (54.50); RSS 5 52.00 (52.00); ungraded 50.00 (50.00); ISNR 20 50.25 (50.25); latex 60% 37.50 (37.50).
