Back Truckers' strike keeps rubber market quiet Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Aug. 24 TRUCKERS' strike continued to deactivate the spot rubber market on Tuesday. Trading activities hit the bottom in the absence of major buyers, while sheet rubber RSS 4 closed at Rs 54 a kg on Tuesday. The loser of the day was RSS 5, which shed 50 paise on brisk trading. Though truckers in Kerala keep away from the strike, local buying has not been reported correspondingly. The rubber futures gained further on fresh buying with moderate volumes. The near month September delivery was quoted at Rs 53.35 (Rs 53.17), October at Rs 52.15 (Rs 51.75), November at Rs 51.73 (Rs 51.40) and December delivery at Rs 51.50 (Rs 51.26) per kg for RSS 4. The TOCOM September futures for RSS 3 declined to 137.4 yen from 139.1 yen a kg. At Bangkok, the same grade closed static at Rs 57.85 on Monday. The spot market rates per kg on Tuesday are : RSS 4 Rs 54 (Rs 54), RSS 5 Rs 51 (Rs 51.50), ungraded Rs 49 (Rs 49), ISNR 20 Rs 49.50 (Rs 49.50) and latex 60 per cent Rs 37.50 (Rs 37.50)
