Back ProEd to provide subsidised IBM mainframe training

ProEd, an training solutions company, is to provide subsidised IBM Mainframe training to engineering and computer applications students who are not a part of the Regional Engineering Colleges and IITs.

ProEd's cost for the students would be between Rs 27,000 and Rs 33,000, against the normal cost of Rs 40,500 for the IBM Mainframe training programme. ProEd is a group company of Maintec Technologies. At a press conference today, Maintec's Managing Director, Mr Naveen V., said that the current volume of people available in the mainframe line was short of the requirement. IBM Mainframe is used in industries that depend on huge database storage.

The training programme, named "Mentor," would be spread over 320 hours, and include "soft skills" and aptitude test training.

ProEd would use the Internet to connect to their IBM Mainframes located in Bangalore. Colleges would be required to provide only lab space and computers, said Mr Naveen.
