40 injured in bus accident

KOCHINEDUMBASSERY, SEPT. 7.SEPT. 7. About 40 passengers were injured when two private buses plying between Aluva and Perumbavoor collided near the Carmel Hospital, Asokapuram, at 7-30 a.m. today. The buses reportedly lost control in the rain.

Four of the injured were admitted to the Lakshmi Hospital and Carmel Hospital, Aluva, in a serious condition and the rest were discharged after administering first aid, the police said. A case was registered.

Cyclist killed

Appukuttan (40), Kalathil Veedu, Elanad, Vadakkanchery, Palakkad, was killed when the bicycle he was riding met with an accident with a private bus at the DCC junction at 10-20 a.m. today. He was admitted to the General Hospital with head injuries, where he died at 1-45 p.m., the police said. A case was registered.

Driver killed

KOCHINEDUMBASSERY, SEPT. 7.SEPT. 7. One person was killed and another was injured when a pick-up van in which they were travelling collided with a mini lorry at Kariyad, near here. The accident took place at 7 a.m..

Baiju (28), a resident of Kuttichira in Chalakudy, who was driving the van died on the spot. Wilson (20), a resident of Mukkannoor, who was injured in the accident, was taken to the Little Flower Hospital, Angamaly.

The deceased was a staff of a private rice mill at Angamaly.
